The samples are crocheted in #10 bedspread cotton, but the motifs can be crocheted from any weight of thread or yarn (including sport weight and worsted weight). Using different weights will only affect the size of the finished motifs.The clear instructions are written out (no charts); and are printed in type that is large enough to make enlarged photocopies unnecessary. In all but one pattern, the instructions fit on a single page. All of the motifs can be appliqued to garments or household items to provide interesting decorative accents.
